Audi R8
Convertible |
The Audi R8 Spyder is the easiest–to-live with, most user-friendly supercar on the market. Not much about this car doesn’t shout out spectacular: styling, performance, handling, impression on others; convertible top well-integrated into the existing coupe

Steering response and turn-in are even sharper. The engine sings. The gearbox snicks. The wind whistles through your hair. The Porsche Boxster Spyder is a truly lovely thing.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Coupe |
If there was some sort of “performance index” of lap time per dollar of purchase price, I think I have the winner: Camaro ZL1. That’s pretty impressive for a car that lists at $58,000.

Porsche Cayenne
SUV/Truck |
Despite my misgivings about the entire concept, I have to admit that the 2011 Cayenne represents genuine improvements in virtually every aspect. It looks better, goes better, weighs less, and has more room.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Wagon |
On normal dry-pavement roads, the E350 Wagon retains all the dynamic qualities of the sedan. I even think the E-class Wagon is at least as pretty as the sedan, if not prettier.

It is tempting to say that the new Kia Sonata runs at the very head of this very competitive pack. At the very least, you will have to park any prejudices you may have towards Korean cars and put the Sonata on your shopping list.

The 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI appears to offer a similar character with greater refinement, improved performance, and a lesser impact on our environment.

Ford Fiesta

Despite my beefs about PowerShift, SYNC and some of the options, the fact is that the basic Ford Fiesta is a terrific little car, and you will get the feeling you’re in a car at least one and maybe two classes higher than it is.

BMW X5
SUV/Truck |
The BMW X5 is clearly a type of vehicle that is hardly my cup of tea. But if it is yours, I can confirm that the new X5 has been upgraded in a number of valuable ways. Just do me (and yourself) a favour: when you go in to buy one, take a peek at the 5-series wagon.
