Remember, the P31 Development Package in the 2011 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is the last hurrah for the AMG 6.2-liter engine. It drives magnificently. Check out the numbers we captured: 0-60 mph happens in 4 seconds. A remarkable number for any car, let alone a near two-ton, four-door.

Adding the P31 Development Package to the already stupendous AMG C63 is certainly gluttonous, but in our estimation, it’s the best sort of vulgarity. It might make for some lousy arithmetic, but it also promises to add a welcome bit of danger and bombast to an already legendary performer.

Even at 77K, the Mercedes C63 AMG feels like a unique and special car that offers the same seductive abilities as the SLS, minus the groovy doors. We’d probably forgo most of the optional equipment, though, including the P31 package.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is a powerful and very satisfying sport sedan, but not practical for daily driving because of poor fuel economy. Although we love driving this car, we would like to see Mercedes-Benz to keep the power up but also deliver more MPG.
